Jim Longworth, a veteran broadcaster, author, lecturer, and columnist, is President of Longworth Productions, which specializes in the production of public affairs television programs, PSAs, and videos.

Mr. Longworth is a graduate of UNCG, and worked in the radio and television industry prior to starting his own company.

Longworth is the author of the landmark two-volume series, TV Creators: Conversations with America’s Top Producers of Television Drama (Syracuse University Press). His columns and articles have appeared in TV Guide, and the Winston-Salem Journal. Every week, Jim writes a weekly column, "Longworth at Large", for the Kernersville News and in YES! Weekly. His celebrity columns also appear on TVParty.com.

Jim has helped to shape a number of public policy initiatives, including directing a campaign for former Governor Doug Wilder of Virginia, which resulted in passage of the nation's first significant handgun legislation. He has also helped raise millions of dollars for charities, including during his years hosting MDA telethons.

Mr. Longworth is a voting member of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, where he has produced and moderated a series of special events, including: “Women in Drama” (featuring Tyne Daly and Sela Ward), “Women in Prime” (featuring Angela Lansbury), “A Mother's Day Salute to TV Moms” (featuring Cloris Leachman, Diahann Carroll, and Marion Ross), “A Salute to TV Dads” (featuring Dick Van Dyke, Patrick Duffy, Dick Van Patten, and Bryan Cranston), and “TV Crimefighters” (featuring Angie Harmon, Marg Helgenberger, Thomas Gibson, and Mary McCormack). He also serves as a judge for the annual primetime Emmy awards.

In his more than fifty years in television, Jim has interviewed hundreds of legendary performers such as Bob Hope, Elizabeth Taylor, and Red Skelton, and has moderated programs featuring some of today's biggest stars, such as Bryan Cranston, Charlie Sheen, and many more.

Jim has served on the board of the Piedmont Triad Film Commission, and was on the faculty at UNCG as a visiting lecturer, teaching courses in television and cinema.

Longworth has moderated a number of televised Congressional debates and other live events, and, he received the prestigious Spectrum of Democracy Award for his extensive coverage of the 2004 elections. Jim was also recognized by Congress in 2005 for his commitment to public service television (see Triad Today).

Jim resides outside Winston-Salem, North Carolina with his wife Pam Cook, who is President of Pam Cook Communications.
